Boy, 6, confirmed dead and six children seriously injured in M4 minibus crash | ITV News Meridian

Police have confirmed a six-year-old boy died and six children remain in hospital after a minibus overturned on a motorway slip road.

Officers were called to the scene near Junction 10 on the M4 in Berkshire at around 2.25pm on Sunday (11 May), to reports of a collision involving a white Ford Transit minibus.

A boy, aged six, died at the scene and his next of kin are being supported by specially trained officers.

Six children remain in hospital after sustaining serious injuries. One of these children is in a critical condition, at this time.

Other occupants of the minibus sustained minor injuries, in the collision, and have been discharged from hospital after receiving medical treatment.

No other vehicles were involved and no arrests have been made, however, police have launched a full investigation to try and establish the cause of the incident.

Investigating officer Det Sgt Lyndsey Blackaby said: "Firstly, I want to offer my deepest condolences to the family of the child who sadly died in this collision.

"We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments leading up to it, to please get in touch.“Anyone with any dash-cam footage, please upload it to our dedicated online portal.

“Anyone who has information should call 101 or make an online report, via our website, quoting reference number 43250230402.
