Brad Marchand

, the former captain of the

Boston Bruins

, broke hearts when he got traded to the

Florida Panthers

on Friday. The Boston Bruins’ fans are absolutely furious at this decision of the team with Brad Marchand’s sixteen years of partnership with the team comes to an end. While many are confused why such a decision was taken, it seems like now there is an answer for it.

Recently, ESPN’s Emily Kaplan shared an insight on why the decision to trade Brad Marchand was taken. In a recent post on X, ESPN’s Emily Kaplan shared a clip from the ABC pregame where she spoke about the Boston Bruins’ decision.

Emily Kaplan said, “The Bruins are always gonna view Brad Marchand as family, he is a legacy player.” She added that initially Brad Marchand was being offered a three year deal by the Boston Bruins in February.
She continued, “Management went to ownership. They got the OK to do a three-year deal, except there’s obviously a difference in perspective on AAV.”
Emily Kaplan also revealed that the Boston Bruins did “work” with Brad Marchand so that he could be traded to a team that he prefers. She said, "They did work with him so he could go to a preferred destination".
She also revealed one of the reasons the Florida Panthers team was chosen could be because Brad Marchand wanted to be on the East coast with his family and also that the team has a lot of players from the Boston Bruins.

However, fans are not satisfied with the Boston Bruins. A fan wrote, “This is even funnier. They will pay guys like Zadorov, lindholm, and Swayman but not a guy they call a “legacy” player. This organization has issues”.
Another fan wrote, “Clowns couldn’t pay their captain what he deserved after he took pay cuts for years 🤡”
Some fans feel it might be a better move for Brad Marchand. A fan commented, “He'll re-sign back here over the summer. Sweeney could have traded him to any one of several other teams but is giving him a chance to win another cup. He knows the Bruins are several years away, probably after Marchand retires.”
Another fan wrote, “Boston had a good run.. all good things must come to an end🙏 “
Brad Marchand has not yet opened up in public about his trade to the Florida Panthers.
