 The Parent Teacher Associ­ation (PTA) of Bishop Herman College (BHE­CO) at Kpando has donated 102 mono desks to the school to address the furni­ture deficit of 800.

Presenting the furniture valued at GH¢40, 000 on Monday, the PTA Chairman of the school, Mr Seth Kpedor, said the inadequate furniture situation of the school was a matter of concern to the parents, and when the PTA was informed, the parents mobilised resources and purchased the furniture.

Mr Kpedor stated that the Association recognised the issue of insufficient furniture as a sig­nificant factor hindering effective teaching and learning.

He assured that the Par­ent-Teacher Association would consistently act promptly to eliminate the obstacles that impede quality education in the school.

The PTA Chairman said parents would continue to partner with the school authorities in order to address the challenges that affect quality education in the school.

Mr Kpedor also called on the students and the school authorities to adopt the culture of mainte­nance to prolong the lifespan of the furniture, to benefit the present and future students of the school.

Additionally, he urged students to take their lessons more seri­ously to justify the investment the government and their parents were making in them and asked them to take advantage of available oppor­tunities to develop themselves.

The Headmaster of BHECO, Mr Francis Kudolo, thanked the PTA of the School for the gesture, saying the support was timely, and would improve teaching and learn­ing in the school.

Mr Kudolo explained that some students shared a mono desk in class while others normally stood during classes, saying there was an urgent need to address the shortage of furniture in the school to promote quality teaching and learning.

The Headmaster, therefore, appealed to other stakeholders and philanthropies to emulate the PTA of the school to address the challenges confronting the institu­tion, and promised that the school authorities would maintain the furniture to ensure its longevity.
