This May, publisher Electronic Arts announced that the global reveal of the new Battlefield game, which we're referring to as Battlefield 6 for the time being, is set for summer.

While summer in the US stretches until September, chances are, most people assumed the reveal would happen sometime this month at or near the Summer Game Fest event, where a ton of announcements usually happen.

The event has come and gone, and while there were a lot of reveals, the latest Battlefield game wasn't part of it.

Over on X (formerly Twitter), Andy McNamara, the Global Senior Director of Integrated Comms for Battlefield Studios (whew!) answered a fan, and confirmed that the new Battlefield is still on track for reveal this summer.

When asked if the reveal is still set in June, McNamara responded,

It is worth noting that EA never specified the reveal would be in June, but rather sometime in the summer. People assumed it would be June, given the Summer Game Fest event.

June isn't over yet, so there's a chance EA will hold a dedicated press event for the new Battlefield game. It's certainly a game big enough to have its own digital showcase.

While EA hasn't shared any information about gameplay and the like for the new Battlefield game, numerous participants in the Battlefield Labs closed playtest have chosen to leak details and gameplay footage. We're not including it here, lest EA's legal team go after us, but footage is available on social media and other platforms where videos are shared.

Battlefield 6 is the next mainline entry in the franchise after its stumble with Battlefield 2042, and franchise vets are hoping this upcoming game will redeem DICE and EA.
