Banditry: Kebbi govt confirms 30 killed in Zuru attack
The chairmen of Zuru and Danko Wasagu local government areas, Muhammad Gajere and Hussaini Bena, respectively, have confirmed the loss of 30 lives following recent attacks on the Zuru communities of Kebbi State by bandits.
Speaking during a visit by the State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Tafida, to Tadurga on Friday, Gajere and Bena confirmed that several villagers were also injured while bandits carted away livestock and other valuables.
In his response, Tafida conveyed the state government’s condolences to affected families and assured them that efforts are underway to block all entry points leading into Tadurga and Kyebu as immediate measures to forestall future occurrences.
Tafida also announced a donation of ₦50 million to support the affected communities, allocating ₦25 million each to Tadurga and Kyebu, referring to the gesture as a modest effort to assist the families in mourning in this challenging time.
The Chief of Dabai, Alhaji Suleman Dabai, praised the state government for its rapid response and credited the recent improvements in security to the leadership of Governor Nasir Idris.
