Bameyi Vows: Flying Eagles Performance Will Improve At U-20 World Cup

Flying Eagles captain, Daniel Bameyi, has expressed confidence that the team will deliver a much-improved performance at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian side, coached by Aliyu Zubairu, secured third place at the recently concluded 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt.

They narrowly lost 1-0 to eventual champions South Africa in the semi-finals but bounced back to defeat hosts Egypt 4-1 on penalties in the third-place playoff.

Reflecting on their journey, Bameyi emphasized the team's commitment to improvement ahead of the global tournament.

“We know the areas we must improve — especially in our finishing. Both the coaching staff and players are focused and united in our goal to get things right,” the centre-back said.

“The World Cup is a major platform, and we’ll be fully prepared to make our mark,” he added.
