Two jets collided at an Arizona airport, killing at least one and injuring others on Monday afternoon, according to reports. The crash happened when a Learjet 35A landed and veered off the runway, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. AZ Family reported that the jet then hit a parked Gulfstream 200. In a press conference, Scottsdale Fire Department said that one person was dead on arrival, two brought to a trauma center and another to a local hospital, and one person was still stuck in the plane. The flight was coming from Austin, according to the outlet. “We do not know how many people were on board,” the agency wrote. “The FAA is temporarily pausing flights into the airport.” The news comes after multiple plane crashes the past few weeks, frightening travelers across the country. On Jan. 29, a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter collided with an American Airlines aircraft near Ronald Reagan National Airport, killing 67 people on board both aircraft. Then, days later, a small medical jet crashed near a shopping mall in Northeast Philadelphia. Seven people were killed and dozens injured.

Rumors Swirl of ‘Miserable’ George Stephanopoulos at GMA

TRUMP ON THE MIND

News anchor George Stephanopoulos is reportedly “miserable” in his hosting role at Good Morning America following the fallout of his defamation suit with President Donald Trump, according to the New York Post. Citing several network sources, the Post reports that Stephanopoulos is rumored to be edging closer toward the exit door with one source claiming that he could leave as soon as this year. “George seems miserable,” the source told the outlet. “He’s definitely gone,” they continued, while suggesting that the network may call it quits in the summer. “He’s a dead man walking for sure,” they added. Another network source, however, completely debunked the claims and rendered them as “nonsense.” “This is nonsense, anyone watching GMA can see he’s engaged, all-in, and as committed as ever,” the source clarified to The Post. “He’s happy to be here,” they added. Rumors regarding Stephanopoulos’ departure were similarly squashed in December last year after the anchor signed a new multiyear contract with ABC News. The network reached a settlement agreement with Trump that same month, after Stephanopoulos inaccurately stated that the president was found civilly liable for raping writer E. Jean Carroll in the ‘90s.

2025 may have just begun, but it’s already proving to be Kendrick Lamar’s year. Following a show-stopping halftime performance at Super Bowl LIX (that conservatives hated), the rapper’s Spotify numbers saw an overwhelming boost. This was particularly true for his hit track/Drake diss/zeitgeist-defining single “Not Like Us.” Spotify announced Monday that the track saw a streaming boost of 430 percent in the three hours following Lamar’s performance. The rapper’s overall streams also soared by 175 percent with specific titles like “Humble” off his 2017 album DAMN seeing another 300 percent increase and his Black Panther duet with SZA, “All the Stars,” a 290 percent increase. Lamar’s Sunday performance saw him performing an ample of his beloved singles including “Not Like Us,” “DNA,” and “squabble up.” The show even featured a surprise cameo from Samuel L. Jackson, who dressed as Uncle Sam seemed to predict the nasty rhetoric Lamar’s critics were about to spew after the show’s end. The To Pimp A Butterfly artist has had a big week with his Super Bowl performance coming fresh off the heels of several major wins at the 67th Grammy Awards last Sunday.

Supermarkets Trader Joe’s and Costco are cracking down on egg hoarders as the national bird flu outbreak has made the common breakfast staple scarce, the New York Post reported. Trader Joe’s has limited customers to one dozen eggs per day, while Costco has set the limit at three packages, which are sold in two- and four-dozen cartons. Videos of customers perusing barren grocery shelves—or stocking up for Armageddon—have flooded social media. “Have you ever seen this before?” asked one woman behind the camera as Costco customers filled huge carts with dozens and dozens of eggs in a video posted to TikTok. In another video, a lone customer walks across a nearly empty egg section at Trader Joe’s before coming across a few last cartons. “We got to take what we can get right now,” he says. A sign placed on empty shelves at another Trader Joe’s apologized to customers: “Sorry! We are all out of eggs.” Prices for eggs have nearly doubled from $2.51 in December 2023 to $4.15 now, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Podcast Deal Brings Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly Back Into Fox Fold

Fox Corp., the parent company of Fox News, has brought Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly back into the fold—sort of. The company on Monday acquired podcast giant Red Seat Ventures, a firm that provides production services, ad sales, and events to a mostly right-wing set of creators. The purchase signals Fox Corp’s interest in the podcast space, an area that helped propel Donald Trump back to the White House last year. The firm sells ads for Kelly’s show, which she said on Monday she produces, and helped kickstart the Tucker Carlson Network in late 2023. It also lists former Fox News star Bill O’Reilly and former Trump administration star Vivek Ramaswamy as clients on its website. Red Seat Ventures will continue to operate as an independent company under Fox’s Tubi brand, the company said on Monday, and each show remains independent from the larger Fox sphere. “From podcasts to video, subscription products and live events, such as the wholly owned CrimeCon, Red Seat Ventures has an unmatched track record of successfully partnering with some of the biggest brands and personalities to operate and expand their cross-platform direct to consumer presence,” Tubi Media Group CEO Paul Cheesbrough said in a statement.

DOGE Cancels Anthony Fauci Museum Exhibit in Federal Cutting Spree

The Department of Health and Human Services is the latest target of Elon Musk’s DOGE federal funding slashing spree. In 48 hours last week, HHS canceled more than $180 million in contracts, including a contract for an Anthony Fauci museum exhibit, according to DOGE. “These contracts were entirely for administrative expenses—none touched any healthcare programs,” the Department of Government Efficiency announced on X on Friday. “This included terminating a $168,000 contract for an Anthony Fauci exhibit at the NIH Museum.” The Fauci exhibit was reportedly scheduled to be finished by July 2025 but has now been scrapped along with $182 million in other HHS expenses. President Donald Trump has long been critical of Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, over his handling of the COVID pandemic. Just last month, Trump revoked Fauci’s security detail and said he “wouldn’t take responsibility” if Fauci faced any heightened threats. Fauci has since hired his own private security.

Months after the slaying of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO, suspect Luigi Mangione has garnered almost $300,000 for his legal defense via donations on GiveSendGo. His lawyer, Karen Friedman Agnifilo, confirmed that Mangione would be using the funds for his defense and that he “very much appreciates the outpouring of support.” The fund has a goal of $500,000, with more than 10,000 supporters having already contributed. The December 4 Legal Committee—whose name contains the date CEO Brian Thompson was killed—said it would continue to raise funds throughout an expected trial. The committee also prompted donors to send Mangione mail as he awaits trial in a Brooklyn jail. “We encourage his millions of supporters to find creative and public ways to advocate for him during his time behind bars in whatever ways seem right,” organizers wrote in a recent update. After a five-day manhunt in December, Mangione was arrested at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s for the murder. He faces 11 charges, including first-degree murder in furtherance of terrorism, with his next court date scheduled for Feb. 21. “After seeing the perp-walk images, as well as statements from United Healthcare and Eric Adams,” one $20 donor wrote, “It’s clear that he needs a strong legal team.”

Tennis Star Fumes After His Luggage Ends Up 8700 Miles Away

Tennis star Alexander Zverev was left fuming when he arrived in Buenos Aires to compete in the Argentina Open only for his luggage to be sent miles away in another direction, The Sun reported. The 27-year-old German is currently the world’s No. 2 player, with 23 ATP Tour title wins under his belt. Instead of arriving at the Open’s host city, his luggage ended up in the Maldives—about 8,700 miles away from Zverev. He complained on Instagram about his predicament, but not without a little humor. “Could anyone explain to me how on earth it is possible for me to fly from Rome to Buenos Aires but my bags instead of coming with me being sent to the Maldives? I guess they need a vacation already,” he wrote. Although the tournament officials afforded him 24 hours to get his luggage redirected, these misplaced bags have set the tennis star back. The mishap meant Zverev had to skip the first round of the Open and skip straight to facing either Dusan Lajovic of Serbia, or Roberto Carballes Baena of Spain, in the second round. After facing a loss in the Australian Open to Italian Jannik Sinner this will be Zverev’s opportunity to bounce back.

Your Brain on Trump: D.C. Psychologist Sees Uptick in Democrat Patients

PAIN IN THE MEMBRANE

President Donald Trump’s sweeping first few weeks in office have seen military threats issued against Greenland and Panama, a gaggle of teens led by Elon Musk infiltrate the systems of multiple federal bureaucracies, refugee flights canceled, the start of mass deportation raids, and the erosion of transgender rights. The general consensus: The breakneck speed of change has been disquieting for many Americans. “I think we can take so much of something before the human brain just like peters out and says, ‘I can’t keep up,’” Sanam Hafeez, a New York-based neuropsychologist, told Axios. The digital news site interviewed a handful of psychologists and mental health experts about the impact on Americans. Andrea Bonior, a Georgetown University professor and psychologist, told Axios she has seen an increase in patients, largely Democrats, citing burnout and despair in part due to the mounting uncertainty generated by Trump’s rapid-fire policies and the energy required to keep up. “We are in an unprecedented time that we have so many collective stressors going on, and the rapid fire of media coverage of these policy changes, it’s just adding to that broader collective stress,” Daniel Relihan, a researcher at the Silver Stress and Coping Lab at UC Irvine, told Axios.

Monkey Accused of Cutting Off Entire Nation’s Power Supply

MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DON'T!

Power was being restored across Sri Lanka on Monday, after officials blamed a monkey for entering a power station near the capital Colombo and triggering a nationwide blackout a day earlier. “A monkey has come in contact with our grid transformer, causing an imbalance in the system,” Kumara Jayakody, the island nation’s energy minister, told reporters. Sources at the ministry told the Colombo-based newspaper Daily Mirror that the monkey was involved in a spat with other primates after they entered the power station together. The blackout began just before midday Sunday, leaving people without power on a scorching hot day. Engineers prioritized hospitals, water treatment plants and other critical infrastructure as they worked to bring the grid serving Sri Lanka’s 22 million people back online. Some households were left to rely on generators overnight, while officials announced power cuts to some regions on Monday and Tuesday in order to manage power supply after the system outage. Toque macaque monkeys, which are only found in Sri Lanka, have come into increasing overlap with humans as their homes have been threatened by deforestation. Numbering between two and three million, they have been documented raiding villages for food. Sri Lanka has also struggled with upgrading its energy grid to cope with increasing demand—fuel shortages in 2022 forced a series of rolling blackouts. “Past governments have failed to act or upgrade the systems,” an energy ministry source told the Daily Mirror. “In fact the national power grid is in such a weakened state that frequent islandwide power outages maybe expected if there is a disturbance.”
