SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (TNND) — At least one person was killed when two planes collided along a runway at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona on Monday, according to authorities.

There was one fatally, while several others were hurt. Multiple people were taken to an area hospital and one person was treated at the scene.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to everybody involved in this,” said Scottsdale Fire Department Capt. Dave Folio.

Video circulating on social media shows first responders arriving at the scene.

Kelli Kuester, who is the aviation planning and outreach coordinator at the Scottsdale Airport, said a midsize business jet collided with another midsize business jet that was parked on private property.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the agency temporarily paused flights into the airport due to an aircraft emergency.

"A Learjet 35A veered off the runway after landing and crashed into a Gulfstream 200 business jet on the ramp at Scottsdale Municipal Airport in Arizona around 2:45 p.m. local time Monday, Feb. 10," the FAA said in a statement.
"We do not know how many people were on board," the FAA added.

The airport said "an accident has occurred upon arrival to runway 21. Fire Department is on scene assessing the situation. Scottsdale Airports runway is currently closed."

The Scottsdale collision comes after three major U.S. aviation disasters in the past two weeks.

A commercial jetliner and an Army Black Hawk helicopter collided in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 29, killing 67 people.

Just two days later, a medical transportation plane crashed in Philadelphia, killing the six people on board and another person on the ground.

Last week, a small commuter plane crashed in Alaska on its way to the hub community of Nome, with all 10 people on board killed.
