Apple TV+ has released a sneak peek of the upcoming fourth episode of Murderbot, its comedic sci-fi thriller based on Martha Wells Hugo and Nebula Award-winning book series.

Titled “Escape Velocity Protocol,” episode 104 follows Murderbot () as it fights for its survival, autonomy, and sanity while confronting an adversary that even it may not be able to overcome. Meanwhile, the character Mensah () faces a moral dilemma: whether to go back for Murderbot or leave it behind.

Murderbot centers on a self-hacking security construct that, despite being repulsed by human emotion, finds itself drawn to its often fragile human clients. Skarsgård plays the title role, portraying a synthetic being that would rather binge-watch futuristic soap operas than save lives — but is forced into action when a dangerous mission derails its attempt at anonymity.

The ten-episode show stars and is executive produced by Skarsgård, with episode four set to debut globally on Friday, May 30.

The series was created by Chris and Paul Weitz, who also executive produce along with Skarsgård, Andrew Miano, David S. Goyer, and Keith Levine. Wells, the author of the original “Murderbot Diaries” series, serves as consulting producer. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and the Weitz brothers Depth of Field production company.

Alongside Skarsgård, the ensemble cast includes Dumezweni (“Presumed Innocent”), (“Oppenheimer”), (“Joy Ride”), Akshay Khanna (“Critical Incident”), Tamara Podemski (“Outer Range”), and Tattiawna Jones (“The Handmaids Tale”).

New episodes of Murderbot premiere every Friday through July 11 on Apple TV+.
