APC Chieftain Scolds Osun Governor Adeleke Over 'Misinterpretation' Of Appeal Court Ruling On Local Govt Election | Sahara Reporters

Adewusi stated that she advised the governor to disband his team of lawyers based on the "misleading interpretation arising from the Friday's Court of Appeal ruling."

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Esther Adewusi, has scolded Governor Ademola Adeleke for assembling "incompetent lawyers" to represent his party in the suit regarding the local government administration.

Adewusi stated that she advised the governor to disband his team of lawyers based on the "misleading interpretation arising from the Friday's Court of Appeal ruling."

The Court of Appeal, Akure Division, while ruling on the controversial local government election conducted on October 15, 2022, dismissed an application by the APC seeking to relist an earlier appeal that had been struck out on January 13 for lack of diligent prosecution.

Delivering the judgment virtually, Justice Peter Obiorah held that relisting the appeal could cause judicial confusion, insisting that the application lacked merit.

The case originated from a suit filed by the All Peoples Party against the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission at the Federal High Court, challenging the legality of the October 15, 2022, LG election, which featured only APC candidates.

The APC chieftain said the court declined to relist a case filed by the APC but its alleged misinterpretation showed a "wide knowledge gap among the putative lawyers representing the PDP."

The APC chieftain and founder of Temilade Esther Adewusi Foundation (TEAF) said she would collaborate with the APC reinstated Local Government Chairmen in Atakumosa East/Atakumosa West/Ilesa East/Ilesa West in their efforts in the Ijesa South Federal Constituency.

Adewusi clarified that the Friday's ruling is a revalidation of the February 10, 2025 appeal court judgement reinstating the APC-led chairmen and councillors sacked by Governor Adeleke in 2022.

She warned that the attempt by the Osun State government and its handlers "to read extraneous meanings to the unambiguous ruling would heat up the polity, a development capable of igniting serious political crisis in the state."

Quoting part of the ruling of Justice Obiora, Adewusi said, " The leading judge posited that 'The sudden attempt to resurrect this appeal through this same court will only lead to confusion and this Court will resist such attempt to lure it to unwittingly seat on Appeal in CA/AK/270/2022.' The CA/AK/270/2022 case in question is the appeal delivered February 10, 2025 which reinstated the APC-led local government executives and councillors.

"This ruling is a clear revalidation of the February 10, 2025 judgement of the Court of Appeal. The PDP failed to appeal that case and that has done a deadly blow to their hope of regaining the local government structure."
