Answer to a written question - Future of nutrient profiling labelling in the EU - E-001390/2025(ASW)

Published 13 hours ago1 minute read

With the existing labelling rules, the Commission is committed to guaranteeing the safety of consumers, providing transparent information, and respecting the right of citizens to make informed choices.

The Commission’s extensive work on food labelling, has included scientific studies, public consultations, and targeted surveys. This process has confirmed the complexity of this issue and highlighted the challenges of reaching common solutions.

Nonetheless, the Commission remains committed to working with Member States and stakeholders and to engage in a comprehensive dialogue on the lifelong prevention of non-communicable diseases.

This dialogue would also address food reformulation, the impacts of ultra-processed products, and the effects of certain food marketing practices on the most vulnerable consumers.
