Ancelotti 'Contacted By Two European Giants' Ahead Of Likely Real Madrid Exit - Independent Newspaper Nigeria

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is nearing a probable Los Blancos exit – and, according to reports, two European giants are interested in his services, having already contacted the 65-year-old over his potential availability at the end of the season.

It’s been a whirlwind campaign for the wily Italian in Spain. His men – spearheaded by Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr – were dumped out of the Champions League by Arsenal and their title defence is hanging on by a thread.

As things stand, Hansi Flick’s Barcelona are poised to become the winners of Spain’s top flight given they are four points ahead of Ancelotti and Co, whose best chance of ending the season with silverware comes in the form of the Copa del Rey.

Irrespective of their success, all fingers are pointing towards Ancelotti departing his role at the end of the 2024/25 campaign and, despite Los Blancos’ somewhat dismal campaign, he is still widely recognised as one of the greatest football managers of all time.

And, as a result, he has no shortage of suitors amid the news of a possible job change come May. Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport, per The Mirror, claim that AC Milan are interested in bringing the veteran’s services back to San Siro.

Ancelotti spent eight years of his managerial career with the Rossoneri between 2001 and 2009 – and he was hugely successful, too. He won all manner of silverware in his homeland’s capital, including the Champions League twice.

Fellow Serie A outfit AS Roma, according to the report, have also been in contact with Ancelotti. Currently managed by former Premier League title winner Claudio Ranieri, the club’s higher-ups are on the lookout for the 73-year-old’s successor.

Leicester City royalty, the seasoned Ranieri was hired by Roma for the second time in November and has guided his side to a 17-game unbeaten streak. That said, the reports are suggesting that he could be replaced by Ancelotti in the summer.

Also linked with the Brazil job in recent months, the former Everton chief – who is one of the most decorated managers in football history – could be returning to Italy, where he has spent the majority of his managerial career spanning three decades.

On his future, Ancelotti has admitted to still being in the ‘honeymoon’ phase at the club. “I love being here and I hope this will last as long as possible. The honeymoon continues. I’m very happy, contented,” he said, per Mail Online.

As mentioned, this season has been an anomaly for Ancelotti. He’s a serial winner, as evidenced by his record five Champions Leagues, and he’ll likely bring success to whichever side he joins next, whether that be at club level or on the international stage.
