The new development reveals the unimaginable emotional toll Ojwang's unexpected demise has taken on his mother.

According to his father, his wife was attending the burial of her sister-in-law when she received the devastating news of her son’s death, and collapsed on the spot.

The grieving father disclosed that his wife fainted immediately after being told that her only son had died.

“We had just buried her sister-in-law, and now we were being told our son was no more. It was too much for her,” he said.

The double tragedy has pushed the family into a deeper state of anguish.

What was already a sorrowful moment turned into an unimaginable nightmare, with mourners having to support the distraught mother as she regained consciousness.

“Anashindwa hata kuongea. I can't even console her because she is in too much pain,” he added. “She just sits there, silent and lost.”

Ojwang's mother, who had prepared lunch for her son just before police came to arrest him days earlier, has not been able to come to terms with the suddenness of the loss.

The trauma of watching him taken away, only to hear of his death days later, coupled with the grief of losing a sister-in-law, has left her physically and emotionally broken.

Family members now describe her condition as delicate, with relatives taking turns to stay by her side and offer comfort, even though they, too, are overwhelmed with grief.

Neighbours have been visiting to offer their condolences and help the family cope with the tragic events that have unfolded so close together.

Albert Ojwang, a young blogger with a promising future, was arrested last week by six police officers who arrived on motorbikes.

He was handcuffed in front of his parents without explanation and taken to Nairobi. A day later, police informed his father that his son had died while in custody.

The circumstances of his death remain unclear, with pressure mounting on authorities to conduct a transparent investigation.

An autopsy carried out on the blogger's body showed that he suffered serious injuries to the head, with features of neck compression.

Multiple soft tissue injuries were spread all over the body, including the head, discrediting earlier police reports that he had banged his head on the wall.

Ojwang's case has sparked conversation around extrajudicial killings, with his family left battling not only for answers but for the emotional survival of a mother who has lost her child.

As the family prepares for their son's burial, they continue to navigate a storm of grief, unanswered questions, and the haunting silence left behind by a son who was taken too soon.
