Ojwang died hours after being locked up at Nairobi's Central Police Station following his arrest in Homa Bay over alleged false publication.

The Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja disclosed that Ojwang was among people arrested for tarnishing Lagat's name online.

After Ojwang's death, several police officers at the Central Police Station on the night the blogger was killed were interdicted.

Kasarani Member of Parliament Ronald Karauri has joined other leaders and Kenyans in demanding Lagat step aside and allow impartial investigations into Ojwang's death.

The lawmaker stated that OCS and other officers on duty that night hold crucial information on unravelling the people who killed Ojwang.

"As more disturbing details emerge surrounding the brutal murder of Albert Ojwang, the only option is for DIG Lagat to step down to allow for a full and impartial investigation. The OCS at Central Police Station, along with other officers on duty that night, hold critical information that could shed light on what truly happened," Karauri said.

According to Karauri, the country risks going in a dangerous direction if Ojwang's murder is not conclusively investigated.

"This is not a case that can be brushed aside. If we continue down this path of unchecked impunity, we risk pushing the country toward a dangerous breaking point," he added.
