Fans were saddened to learn that Alaskan Bush People matriarch was medically evacuated and diagnosed with pneumonia on February 13. However, Ami’s son shared a positive update while visiting his mom in the hospital along with brother .

“Hey guys, I arrived this morning, dropping off Gabe back with mom and I brought my bunny ears. So, mom wants to say hi to everyone,” Noah said in a Wednesday, February 20, TikTok video, as he and Gabe stood beside Ami, who lay in the hospital bed.

Ami muscled up the energy to thank her fans for their “prayers and well wishes,” sharing how much she “appreciate[s]” the support.

“I’m feeling a little better today. I’m making progress,” she said, leading Noah to reveal that the hospital’s chaplain visited them before they made the video.

“Yeah, the chaplain actually just left, so that was really cool. A lot of hospitals don’t have a chaplain, which is cool this one does,” Noah said. “Everyone’s been outrageously accommodating, super nice, super sweet. Mom has rave reviews for the entire place, I just hope she doesn’t ever come back here, ever.”

Noah broke the news via TikTok on February 12 that his mom suffered a health setback and his sister, , shared more information the following day via Instagram.

“I wanted to let you guys know that mom is actually in the hospital. She went to the emergency room late last night and late, late after that, she did some tests, they actually medevaced her to the next big, big hospital,” Bird, 30, said in the video at the time.

Bird later shared that doctors later diagnosed Ami with pneumonia, which progressed after “a lot of sicknesses” were going around “in [their] area.”

“It just seems to hit mom really, really hard. Basically, her lungs are really bad,” Bird continued. “They have put her in anesthesia and they’re gonna try to keep her in that for about two days, so her body can just work as little as possible.”

On February 15, Noah shared that Ami was transferred from the ICU to the recovery room.

“It looks like she might be coming back Monday and be released. That’d be like the earliest possible, apparently,” Noah said in the clip. “I just got off the phone with Gabe. So, yeah, again, thank you all for the well wishes and the prayers and everything. Oh, She had me a little bit worried, she did. Yeah, but she’s OK, she’s gonna be good. I’m just gonna move on from here.”

The former TLC star has a history of pneumonia and was recently rushed to the hospital after having trouble breathing properly in March 2024. Bird told fans about her mom’s “severe” pneumonia diagnosis.

“Like I said, she is OK. It is a severe case of pneumonia, though. She was admitted late last night. I will definitely keep you guys updated. But I think that’s about it,” Bird said in the Instagram video at the time. “Y’all are always so supportive and caring and I just wanted to let you guys know what was going on. Like I said, I’ll keep you guys updated. Mom is also feeling better than she was last night.”
