The ban on public gatherings by Kogi State Government on Monday had heightened tensions, with security forces, citing concerns about potential disturbances. However, the Senator remained defiant, asserting that she has every right to visit her hometown.

Recall that the Kogi Central Senator was suspended by the Senate for groos misconduct, according to the Senate Spokesman. The was also an aborted move by some people who instituted a recall process against her at the Senate.

But, in a dramatic turn of events, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who attracted massive crowd of suppprters and well wishers to her country home at Ihima as early as 7am on Tuesday, later arrived in helicopter, stunning the waiting crowd.

The supporters, carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, defied Police warnings and a curfew imposed by Amoka Monday, the Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area ahead of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s homecoming.

Akpoti-Uduaghan had earlier issued a strong warning via Social Media, stating that Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, and former Governor Yahaya Bello should be held responsible if any violence erupted during her Sallah Celebrations with political associates and supporters.

Addressing the cheering crowd in her native Egbira Language, Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to her people, dismissing attempts to intimidate her.

She said, “This is my home, this is my town. Nobody can stop me from coming home. I am the daughter of the late Dr. Abdul Akpoti.”

The dramatic homecoming further underscores the ongoing political tensions in Kogi State as Akpoti-Uduaghan continues to assert her presence despite opposition from the State Authorities.
