African footballer of the year and Super Eagles star, Ademola Lookman recently visited Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu at his Idunganran palace, Lagos Island.

Presenting his African footballer of the year trophy to the monarch, Akiolu commended Lookman for his feat, urging him to be honest in all he does. He, thereafter, prayed for him to achieve more success.

Lookman, who was accompanied by his father and some associates, was excited to present his award to the monarch.

Commenting on national issues, the monarch also expressed optimism that the president will deliver dividends of democracy.

“Nigerians should be patient and pray. The president has promised to do some landmark projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road. He has embarked on reforms. He is still going to do more. My plea to him is that he should forget the past and face the future.

“He should forgive all those that may have offended him. Many years ago when my letter of appointment was handed over to me, I prayed to God that he would become the president and God has done it. The wife has been very cooperative. With patience, all will be well.”

Commenting on local council financial autonomy, Akiolu said with the direct payment of money to the councils, they have to be very careful and be more committed in terms of governance.

He urged media professionals to be constructive in their writings and not engage in destructive journalism.
