Air India Cancels Another Flight From Ahmedabad To London Over Technical Glitch | Sahara Reporters
However, a technical glitch was detected during routine checks, according to local media reports.
Just days after the devastating crash of Air India Flight AI171, which left only one survivor among 242 people on board, another Air India flight scheduled to operate the same route was cancelled due to a technical issue.
Air India Flight AI159, a B788 Boeing jet, had been due to depart from Ahmedabad in Gujarat at 1:10pm local time on Tuesday and arrive at London Gatwick airport at 6:25pm.
However, a technical glitch was detected during routine checks, according to local media reports.
As a result, the flight was suspended, and passengers were left stranded at the airport.
According to CNN News18, the flight had arrived earlier from New Delhi before the issue was discovered.
Flight AI159 is the renumbered version of the Ahmedabad to Gatwick route previously operated as Flight AI171. That aircraft crashed into a residential area last Thursday, killing 241 passengers.
Authorities have since ordered inspections of Air India’s Dreamliners.
There were 53 British nationals, 159 Indian nationals, seven Portuguese citizens, and a Canadian on board the ill-fated AI171.
Among them, only one survived
— 40-year-old British father Vishwash Kumar Ramesh.
Flight data shows an AI159 flight from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick landed yesterday after a delay of around three hours.
At least one person on board had been scheduled to fly on Flight AI171 but had rescheduled at the last minute.
