The city saw cloudy weather in the morning, which soon gave way to blazing heat in the afternoon hours. The relative humidity was 60% at 8.30am and 36% at 5.30pm on Friday. The IMD bulletin mentioned that the low-pressure area over the east-central Arabian Sea off the south Konkan coast persisted on Friday. "It is likely to move nearly northwards and intensify into a depression in the next 24 hours," the bulletin said. Moreover, southwest monsoon is likely to arrive on the Kerala coast in the next two days. Several regions of India will experience monsoon by late May or early June, experts said. The low-pressure area and associated system are likely to bring heavy rainfall to most districts of south Gujarat and coastal Saurashtra on Saturday. Several districts, including Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, are likely to receive moderate thunderstorms.

The current system is likely to be in effect till May 27 and bring rain to almost all districts of the state. On Friday, 14 talukas received 1mm or more of rainfall. Amreli received 80mm of rainfall, followed by Mendarda in Junagadh at 44mm and Lathi in Amreli at 33mm. At 43°C, Kandla recorded the highest maximum temperature, followed by Bhuj at 42.7°C and Rajkot at 42.3°C.
