Ahmedabad sees 20 new Covid cases in a day
Ahmedabad is experiencing a slight increase in Covid-19 cases, with 20 new infections reported in the last 24 hours, raising the active case count to 31
AHMEDABAD: In the new wave of Covid-19, 20 new cases were recorded in the city in 24 hours, taking the number of active cases from 11 to 31. Out of the total, 10 are in the North West Zone, seven in the West Zone, and two in the South West Zone, among others, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's (AMC) data shows.Across the state, 46 active cases had been recorded as of Friday afternoon, according to state health department officials. They said all the cases are of the Omicron subtype and there is no need to panic. The percentage of hospitalisation is very low, and the majority of patients, having symptoms similar to flu, have recuperated after isolation.Dr Pravin Garg, a physician in the city, said that the majority of cases they see with flu-like symptoms are in the working age group. "There is no need for concern as of now, as we do not see patients' conditions worsening. Caution should be exercised for those with existing co-morbidities. Thus, testing should only be done on a doctor's recommendation," he said.Experts said that the Covid strain this time is similar to those recorded in countries like Singapore. However, in India, no major hospitalisation or morbidity is reported, they added.
