Adeleke will be reelected in 2027 - Olajengbesi
Pelumi Olajengbesi, convener of the Imole Grassroots Mobilisation Network, has expressed confidence that Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will be re-elected in the August 8, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, saying the All Progressives Congress (APC) lacks a formidable candidate to pose any threat.
In a statement on Sunday, Olajengbesi, who is also a House of Representatives hopeful for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, argued that the political momentum is firmly with the PDP.
“As it is often said, politics is about numbers and the numbers at the moment speak for themselves,” he said.
“It is a known fact that all three serving senators in the state are PDP members. Also, eight of the nine serving members of the House of Representatives are PDP members. What about the House of Assembly and the local government chairmen? They are overwhelmingly PDP members with political weight in their various bases.”
He said the APC, which lost in 2022 despite being in power, has long been rejected by the people of Osun.
“A party that lost despite having the power of incumbency in 2022 should know the people of the state passed a vote of no confidence on it long ago,” Olajengbesi said.
He questioned the APC’s chances in 2026, stating, “At the moment, I see no formidable aspirant known by Osun people that the APC can field to challenge Adeleke… Whether it is Oyetola or Bola Oyebamiji or Ajibola Bashiru, or any other person, I see no formidable aspirant to command the kind of love and support the people of Osun State have for Adeleke.”
He added that Adeleke’s governance has been marked by “transformational projects and visionary leadership,” which, he said, millions of residents have attested to.
