Ace Bailey, the most polarizing player in NBA draft, has Nets on radar
Of all the players in Wednesday’s NBA draft, Rutgers’ Ace Bailey is the most divisive and debated. And for many Nets fans, the most desired.
Bailey is regarded as the third-most talented prospect, but questions about maturity and professionalism — refusing to work out for any teams, and canceling a workout with the 76ers — are expected to make him slide. He may not tumble all the way to the Nets at No. 8, but could he fall within range for them to trade up?
“It’s just a blessing to just play basketball every day,” Bailey said when asked about the prospect of ending up in Brooklyn.
The tactics being employed by Bailey and his rep, Omar Cooper, have caused a stir, and it’s been reported that the freshman doesn’t want to be drafted by the 76ers, Hornets or Jazz — who hold picks Nos. 3-5 — but would prefer to land in Washington, New Orleans or Brooklyn, who have the next three picks.
