A warm week ahead
Temperatures are beginning to rise across New Mexico this afternoon. Record-breaking high temperature are possible by the end of the week.
A high pressure system is making its way towards New Mexico this afternoon. By this afternoon the high pressure will be just off the Baja coast. The shift in winds over New Mexico will bring light winds tomorrow afternoon. It will also bring a significant increase in temperatures. Albuquerque can expect a 10 degree increase in its high temperatures tomorrow. Other cities, like Roswell, could see a temperature increase larger than 10 degrees.
By the middle of the week the high pressure system will continue to track closer to New Mexico. This shift in the high pressure will bring even warmer temperatures to New Mexico through the end of the week. These temperatures could reach to record breaking levels by the end of the week.
A weak cold front will move through eastern New Mexico on Thursday. This front will only drop temperatures by a few degrees. The cool down will not last for very long though. By Friday afternoon temperatures will have once again warmed up to above seasonable averages.
Saturday is expected to be the warmest day this week for most. Temperatures will cool off by a few degrees Sunday through early next week.
