90 Day Fiance's Veah Netherton Says Mystery Illness 'Strengthened' Her 'Relationship With God'
90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days star is updating fans on her health after revealing a mystery illness on the season 7 tell-all. The Orlando, Florida native exclusively tells In Touch that she has “strengthened” her “relationship with God” and is now living her life “by the scriptures” after reaching “rock bottom” amid her health battle.
“So before filming, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor I started medication for that right before I flew to South Africa,” Veah, 27, told In Touch in a statement. “When I came home, I talked to my neurologist about doing lymphatic draining. He gave me the doctor’s note to do so.”
Lymphatic draining relieves “swelling that occurs when illness or medical treatment clogs your lymphatic system,” according to the Cleveland Clinic. The treatment involves “gently manipulating specific areas of your body to move excess fluid buildup away from your tissues and toward working lymph vessels and lymph nodes so they can get rid of toxins in your body.”
The TLC star explains that her medical professional used a “massage gun” on her lymph nodes, which she believes has caused shortness of breath, difficulty swallowing, spitting up blood, loss of mobility, severe weight loss and other symptoms.
“I’m still seeking out answers on this but what I’m pretty sure has happened is she damaged some muscles and some nerves by using a massage gun on my lymph nodes,” she says. “I’m still currently underweight and haven’t been able to eat any food in six months. I live off [Ensures] but I have been able to walk and stand up on my own for short periods of time.”
Veah first revealed her health issues when she missed filming the 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 7 tell-all in New York City. She explained to host that she couldn’t attend the in-studio filming for the three-part tell-all, which began airing on January 12, because she got severely ill after traveling from South Africa to meet her boyfriend, , for the first time.
“I started to experience a lot of shortness of breath. Like, even swallowing is just like, super painful and it has caused me to lose a lot of weight,” she described the illness. “I’m down like 50 pounds.”
The reality TV alum said that after months of tests, doctors concluded they were “able to find gallstones.” While she ended the segment on a positive note, assuring viewers that doctors were “on the right track,” she later opened up about her ongoing health struggles on social media.
Veah discussed the brain tumor she was diagnosed with before filming the 90 Day Fiancé spinoff. After “processing” the news for a few months and returning home from South Africa, she wanted to try “some natural ways” to “get rid of the tumor or shrink it.”
Days after revealing the news to fans, Veah returned to social media to clarify “misinformation” about her diagnosis. “So let’s clear it up, I have been under the care of a doctor since finding out about my tumor,” she wrote on on January 18. The TLC star said she was working on finding a doctor that “specialized in nerve and muscle damage.”
