The New Patriotic Party(NPP) has constituted a 9-member Conference Planning Committee to lead the organization of party’s Annual National Delegates Conference scheduled for July 18–20, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The committee is tasked with steering all preparations and logistics for the crucial delegates conference, where amendment motions will be formally considered.

The General Secretary is expected to circulate the proposed constitutional amendments to regional and constituency secretariats in advance of the conference.

Party members, especially delegates, are being urged to review the documents thoroughly, as they will form the basis for debate and decision-making at the Extraordinary National Delegates Conference.

Meanwhile, the party has officially fixed January 31, 2026, for its Presidential Primaries to elect a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

The decision was taken at a National Council meeting held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, in line with Article 13(1)(1) of the party’s constitution, which empowers the Council to determine the date and venue for the presidential candidate election.

The Council also considered proposals for constitutional amendments and broader restructuring efforts aimed at revitalizing the party following its recent electoral defeat.

As part of these efforts, the Frank Davies-led Constitution Amendments Committee presented a comprehensive report to the Council, based on inputs received from party members and identifiable groups. The report strongly recommended an early date for the primaries, citing overwhelming support from grassroots stakeholders and the need to urgently address what it described as a “leadership vacuum” hindering party reorganization.

The National Council overwhelmingly endorsed the Committee’s proposal, settling on January 31, 2026, as the most strategic date to begin positioning the party for a comeback in the next electoral cycle.
