6 Good Samaritan locations receive national award
The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) announced that six Good Samaritan locations received the 2025 Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award. This recognition signifies a location’s commitment to improving the lives of residents through quality care. These six locations join the 23 other Good Samaritan locations that earned the Bronze Award last year.
The Bronze Award is the first of three distinctions possible through the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program, which recognizes long-term care providers across the nation that have demonstrated improved quality outcomes for staff, residents and individuals with disabilities in long term and post-acute care.

“Quality care is at the core of everything we do. I am so proud of our caregivers who pour their heart and souls into caring for our nation’s seniors,” said DeeAndra Sandgren, Good Samaritan chief nursing officer. “70% of the residents we serve live in rural areas across America’s heartland – they are our neighbors, teachers and friends. It’s a responsibility we take great pride in and we are truly privileged to do this work and serve the seniors and families who have been entrusted to us. This award is a testament to the love, dedication and compassion they show our residents every single day.”
The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program is a rigorous three-level process reviewed and evaluated by trained experts against a set of nationally recognized standards for organizational excellence. The standards of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program help organizations achieve superior performance over time to improve the quality of life and care of long term care residents.
Providers begin the quality improvement journey at the Bronze level, where they assess their organization's mission, vision, and key factors that lead to success. Each application is reviewed and judged against a set of nationally recognized standards for achieving excellence.
This year, 653 long term care providers in 46 states achieved a Bronze National Quality Award. Bronze recipients may now move forward to the Silver – Achievement in Quality award criteria.
The awards will be presented during AHCA/NCAL’s Convention & Expo October 19-22 in Las Vegas.
