$360m World Bank facility: Oppong Nkrumah tells govt to ensure transparency in utilisation

In Parliament on 1st July 2025, the government received approval for the $360 million World Bank facility to support the 2025 budget.
“Contributing to the debate, I urged our colleagues from the other side to ensure transparency for its utilisation and not deviate from what the cabinet approved the funds for,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
Parliament on Tuesday, July 1, approved a $360 million financing agreement between government and the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA) for the Second Resilient Recovery Development Policy Financing.

Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem presented the facility to the House on Tuesday.
The funding aims to improve citizens’ livelihoods, accelerate economic growth, sustain macroeconomic stability, curb inflation, and restore economic growth.
The Finance Committee recommended approval of the facility, though the Minority voiced opposition during debates.
