The Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen, claims that during yesterday's demonstrations, 300 police officers were injured and several police stations were torched.
In a press briefing on Thursday, June 26, Murkomen claimed that 300 police officers and 100 civilians were injured during the demonstrations, which he termed as a plot aimed at dethroning President William Ruto's administration. Murkomen said that more than ten people were killed during the protests.
According to the CS, hired goons infiltrated the protests and deliberately attacked the police together with other critical security infrastructures, such as police stations.
A total of five guns were stolen from the Dagoretti Police Post in Kiambu County, while four were burnt at the Gachui Police Post.

"There were 300 police officers who were injured, and around 100 civilians, so a total of 400 individuals were injured during the protests," he said.
"It is true that from yesterday's protests there was a particular pattern in particular constituencies, where police stations were being targeted, and I suspect the burning of the police station was meant for the coup plotters to make a statement that there is no longer a country," Murkomen asserted.
Furthermore, 27 National and County Government Vehicles and 65 civilian vehicles, which were parked in various police stations, were destroyed by the protestors, according to the CS.
Homes and businesses of prominent public servants were not spared by the protestors. According to Murkomen National Assembly Majority Leader, Kimani Ichung’wah, Molo MP, Kimani Kuria, Mathira MP, Eric Wamumbi, Kieni MP, Njoroge Wainaina, Mbeere South MP Bernard Muriuki and Laikipia East MP, Mwangi Kiunjuri, were attacked and property destroyed.
"Also of great concern to us is that the organizers targeted homes and businesses of elected leaders who support the Government," he said.
Additionally, Murkomen revealed that other critical government offices, including courts, national government, and county offices, were looted and burnt, with businesses worth billions of shillings in different parts of the country, severely plundered.
"The criminals targeted kiosks, supermarkets, electronic shops, hotels, and restaurants. Business and residential premises were burnt, including one owned by the Catholic Church in Embu County," the CS claimed.
Castigating the events, which he termed as acts of "terrorism", Murkomen asserted that security agencies have kick-started investigations to establish who exactly facilitated the destruction of properties during the protests.
