3 Upcoming Best Mileage SUVs You Must Wait For! » MotorOctane

Published 3 weeks ago3 minute read

Most car buyers are currently opting for a car with better mileage. That said, hybrid cars are one of the best choices for someone who wants lower running costs and is not interested in an EV. Currently, Maruti and Toyota dominate this segment in the country, but they will soon face challenges from other brands. Today, let’s have a look at the upcoming hybrid cars that you must wait for –

Upcoming Hybrid Cars – Hyundai Creta

Hyundai has already shared its humongous plan of launching 26 new models in the country. The new model will include facelifts, new nameplates, and also different iterations of currently on sale cars. Hyundai is already working on the new generation Creta. However, it is also rumoured that the brand is likely to introduce a hybrid setup with the Creta. Its details are currently sparse, but if it will be true, Hyundai might offer a strong hybrid powertrain option with its best selling SUV.

In this case, Hyundai might swap the diesel engine and offer a strong hybrid powertrain. The new Creta hybrid will be based on the upcoming third generation of this SUV. That said, its features and designing cues will be the same. Once launched, the brand must price this SUV with a bare difference between its ICE iteration and hybrid iteration to make it sell in the country.

Kia Seltos hybrid

We have already reported that Kia is working on a new hybrid engine that will be introduced globally. Moreover, the Korean brand is also rumoured to introduce this setup with upcoming new generation Seltos.

The Kia Seltos Hybrid is expected to share the powertrain option with the Hyundai Kona hybrid sold internationally. It is equipped with a 1.6-litre petrol engine hybrid powertrain mated to a 6-speed DCT gearbox. This unit is capable of producing 140 bhp and 265 Nm of peak torque. The claimed mileage on the new model is expected to be around 25 kmpl, similar to the other hybrid SUVs currently on sale in the country. While the brand has not yet confirmed anything about its launch, it is expected to hit the showrooms by early 2026.

Upcoming Hybrid Cars – Maruti Fronx Hybrid

Maruti has been also developing its own series hybrid powertrain. This new setup is expected to be introduced with Fronx and later to be extended to Swift, Baleno, Brezza and others. This new hybrid powertrain is expected to offer better efficiency, expected to achieve around 35 kmpl. Moreover, being developed by Maruti itself, the new powertrain will also be reliable and easier to maintain.

Maruti is expected to introduce this new model by the start of 2026 as in this year, the brand is already set to launch e-Vitara by September and a whole new SUV by the end.
