BENGALURU: An HR professional, severely injured after a tree branch fell on him Sunday, died at a private hospital in Jayanagar Thursday afternoon.Akshay M, 29, a resident of Srinivasanagar in Banashankari first stage, was riding a scooter when the tree branch fell on him on June 15.Based on his elder brother Benakaraj's complaint, Hanumantha Nagar police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 105 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) against the range forest officer (RFO), district forest officer (DFO) of BBMP and other officials.Akshay, who was working for a private firm at Rajajinagar, suffered injuries when he went out to buy meat to prepare lunch for his father's birthday.
According to Kanakaraj, the doctors treating Akshay declared him ‘brain dead' after 48 hours of treatment."We had paid an interim bill of Rs 4 lakh and compensation of Rs 5 lakh," said BLG Swamy, DCF, BBMP.The tree branch fell right on his head near Shri Brahma Chaitanya Mandira when he was riding helmetless. He lost balance and the scooter skidded and hit a car parked on the roadside. Local residents who found him profusely bleeding rushed him to the hospital.
Eyes donated, Akshay's family members donated his eyes. He was the only earning member in his family as his elder brother had lost his job a few months ago after meeting with an accident. He had lost his mother a year ago.BBMP trims tree, following the incident, BBMP forest officials trimmed the tree.Balaji Timmalapura, who helped rush Akshay to the hospital, said the civic body left the branches of the tree on the roadside after trimming.
