2027: Adelabu vows to make sacrifices for Oyo APC's victory

The Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, has reiterated his determination to make personal sacrifices and abide by the terms necessary for the success of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Adelabu stated this in an interview with journalists on the sidelines of a meeting with the state APC executives and the 33 local government chairmen of the party, held at his private residence in the Government Reserved Area, Ibadan, the state capital.

The minister maintained that the party is more important than any individual political officeholder, stressing the need for unity and collective effort to ensure the APC’s victory in the state.

He said, “Reconciliation is also about sacrifice. It is about mutual sacrifice. Everyone is going to put down something. There is no reconciliation without sacrifice, no reconciliation without compromise, and no sacrifice without cooperation, collaboration, and partnership.

“What matters most is the party’s success in the 2027 general elections.

“Nothing is too much for anyone to sacrifice. Everybody knows that there will always be terms and conditions that will be beneficial to all members of the party”.

The minister said the meeting discussed President Bola Tinubu’s administration, the state of the APC in Oyo, and his contributions since assuming office as minister of power.

“We deliberated on the success of the APC in 2027. We met today to review the state of the party and also discussed its overall progress.

“We looked at the achievements of the Tinubu-led administration—his initiatives for economic growth, peace, harmony, and industrial development—ranging from the student loan scheme to agricultural programmes and zonal development plans.

“We are satisfied with President Tinubu’s performance so far and remain optimistic that the next two years will bring even greater progress.

“However, a more comprehensive assessment will be done at a statewide stakeholders’ meeting we plan to organise soon in Abuja.

“We will not rest on our oars. We still have a long way to go to ensure reconciliation is total,” he said.

On the party’s chances in 2027, the minister said, “We believe that Oyo State will return to the APC. We will ensure internal democracy within the party, allowing the best candidates to emerge.

“This is our first stakeholders’ meeting, and we will follow it with consultations in Abuja involving our three senators and nine House of Representatives members. But first, the party must be informed of the steps we intend to take.”
