The 2025 Tony Awards, marking the 78th annual celebration of Broadway's finest, are scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 8, 2025. The prestigious ceremony will be held at the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, the event will honor the outstanding achievements in Broadway theatre, recognizing the best productions and performers from the 2024–2025 season.

Viewers can tune into a full day of festivities. The red carpet arrivals will be streamed live starting at 1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET on Playbill's official YouTube channel. Following this, "The Tony Awards: Act One," a live pre-show, will be hosted by Darren Criss and Renée Elise Goldsberry. This segment will be available to watch for free at 3:40 p.m. PT / 6:40 p.m. ET on Pluto TV, specifically on the "Live Music" channel in the Entertainment section. The main awards ceremony is set to begin at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET. It will be broadcast live on CBS and will also stream live on Paramount+ for Showtime subscribers. For Paramount+ Essential users, the event will be available for on-demand streaming the next day.

Making her hosting debut for the main telecast is Oscar nominee and Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo. Known for her powerful performances, including her Tony-winning role as Celie in "The Color Purple" and her upcoming lead in "Wicked: For Good," Erivo expressed her pride and excitement for helming Broadway's biggest night. She previously performed "I'm Here" from "The Color Purple" at the 2016 ceremony. The pre-show will be guided by the dynamic duo of Darren Criss and Renée Elise Goldsberry. Adding to the distinguished lineup, veteran Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell will serve as the show’s announcer.

Several productions have garnered multiple nominations, highlighting a competitive season. Leading the nominations are the musicals "Buena Vista Social Club," "Death Becomes Her," and "Maybe Happy Ending," each securing an impressive 10 nods, including nominations for Best Musical. Other critically acclaimed productions such as "Dead Outlaw," "John Proctor is the Villain," "Sunset Blvd.," and "The Hills of California" also received significant recognition, each earning seven nominations.

The roster of nominees features a blend of Broadway veterans and celebrated talents from film and television, some of whom are receiving their first Tony nominations. George Clooney earned his first nod for Lead Actor in a Play for his performance in "Good Night, and Good Luck," based on Edward R. Murrow's historic interview with Sen. Joseph McCarthy. Competing in the same category are Daniel Dae Kim for "Yellow Face," Cole Escola for "Oh, Mary!", Jon Michael Hill for "Purpose," Harry Lennix for "Purpose," and Louis McCartney for "Stranger Things: The First Shadow." In the Lead Actress in a Play category, Sarah Snook is nominated for her role in "The Picture of Dorian Gray." She is joined by fellow first-time nominee Sadie Sink for "John Proctor is the Villain," Mia Farrow for "The Roommate," alongside seasoned performers Laura Donnelly for "The Hills of California" and LaTanya Richardson Jackson for "Purpose." Other notable actors receiving nominations include Bob Odenkirk, underscoring the diverse talent celebrated this year.

The ceremony promises a spectacular lineup of performances. A highly anticipated moment will be the reunion of the original cast of "Hamilton," featuring Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ariana DeBose, Leslie Odom Jr., and others, to commemorate the groundbreaking musical's 10th anniversary. Audiences will also be treated to performances from the casts of several currently nominated shows, including "Buena Vista Social Club," "Dead Outlaw," "Death Becomes Her," "Gypsy," "Sunset Blvd.," and "Maybe Happy Ending." Furthermore, the Broadway Inspirational Voices choir is slated for a special appearance during the telecast.

Beyond the competitive categories, the Tony Awards will also present several special honors. Esteemed playwright and actor Harvey Fierstein is set to receive the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre, recognizing his profound contributions to the art form. Celia Keenan-Bolger will be honored with the Isabelle Stevenson Award for her significant charitable efforts. Additionally, the Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre will be bestowed upon Great Performances, Michael Price, New 42, and The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts for their outstanding contributions to the Broadway community.

A dazzling array of presenters from various fields of entertainment will grace the stage to announce the winners. The list of confirmed presenters includes prominent figures such as Oprah Winfrey, Lin-Manuel Miranda (who will also be performing), Adam Lambert, Kristin Chenoweth, Keanu Reeves, and Michelle Williams, adding further star power to the evening's celebrations.
