1000kW 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT XX revealed

Wild AMG GT four-door supercar EV to deliver Bugatti-humbling acceleration and a 350km/h top speed

Mercedes-AMG’s all-new state-of-the-art Porsche Taycan rival has been leaked online, with images of the 1000kW 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT XX posted on Instagram.

Already officially teased by the German performance sub-brand, originally it was thought Mercedes-AMG was hatching a production version of its Vision One-Eleven hypercar EV, especially since the car previewed was painted in the same copper orange alubeam paint.

Now, thanks to CarDesignWorld, which claims the images are real, we get our first look at the state-of-the-art four-door coupe that will initially be sold alongside the current Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door before eventually replacing it later.

Carrying over some design cues from both the Vision One-Eleven and the 2022 Vision AMG Concept, the AMG GT XX shows how it blends curves with rakish fastback styling.

Missing is a rear screen, mimicking what Polestar has done on the 3 and 4, but the new AMG does come with Ferrari-style six circular taillights that are interlinked by a ULED light bar that can communicate messages.

Up front is a large SLR Stirling Moss-shaped grille that is combined with a pair of slimline vertically stacked headlamps, with the latest AMG GT XX looking more like a Maserati than a ’Benz.

Within the racy cabin, the AMG GT XX gets a yoke wheel that looks like it’s been borrowed from the ONE hypercar.

Ahead of the driver is a large digital instrument panel that is blended with a larger landscape-mounted infotainment system, with both sitting behind a single piece of glass.

Sporty door strap pulls instead of door handles hint at extreme levels of weight saving.

We already know the AMG GT XX will be the first car to be based on Mercedes-AMG’s own AMG.EA electric architecture it has developed from scratch.

The reason an off-the-peg ’Benz EV platform wasn’t used is that they can’t package AMG’s next-gen Axial Flux disc-shaped e-motors that will power the halo four-door coupe.

Weighing just 24kg each, the Yasa – owned by Mercedes – e-motor produces up to 358kW and 800Nm.

In total, early details suggest the wild four-door will produce more than 1000kW – enough to overshadow the 815kW pumped out by the mightiest Porsche Taycan GT.

The impossibly high 350km/h top speed, meanwhile, is well above the Porsche's 305km/h and overtakes the Tesla Model S Plaid, which tops out at 320km/h.

Other advanced tech includes 800-volt electronics and a battery pack developed in-house featuring a silicon anode.

Despite the earlier leak, we’re no clearer when Mercedes-AMG plans to officially unwrap its 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT XX, but it’s thought the new leaked pics could force its hand for an earlier unveil.
