Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has inaugurated the 2025 Amirul Hajj committee with a charge to ensure the welfare, safety, and spiritual well-being of the state’s pilgrims during their journey to Saudi Arabia.

Speaking at the Government House in Gusau on Thursday, Lawal underscored the importance of delivering a seamless and dignified Hajj experience for all participants. The ceremony, according to his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, marked the formal constitution of the committee tasked with overseeing Zamfara’s 2025 Hajj operations.

The Emir of Maradun, His Royal Highness Alhaji Garba Muhammad Tambari, was named as Amirul Hajj and will serve as chairman of the committee. Other key members include the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Hon. Sulaiman Adamu Gummi, who will serve as Vice Chairman, and the Executive Secretary of the Zakat Board, Alhaji Habibu Balarabe, who will act as Secretary.

Lawal urged the committee to prioritise pilgrims’ welfare, describing the task as a sacred responsibility. He stressed the importance of cooperation with the Zamfara State Hajj Commission, relevant federal agencies, and Saudi partners to ensure efficient coordination and real-time problem-solving during the pilgrimage.

“The Zamfara State Government, on behalf of our people, has placed great confidence in you to ensure that every aspect of the 2025 Hajj operation is executed with excellence, dignity, and sincerity,” the governor said.

He also called on the committee to operate with transparency, accountability, and compassion, noting the weight of responsibility they carry over the lives and spiritual journeys of Zamfara’s Muslim faithful.

Lawal assured the team of full government backing, including logistical and financial support. He further requested regular updates on the committee’s progress and a detailed report after the pilgrimage, outlining successes, challenges, and recommendations for future Hajj planning.

“You are ambassadors of the government of Zamfara State and custodians of our culture, values, and religious integrity on a global platform,” he added. “Let your conduct reflect humility, patience, discipline, and devotion. Be shining examples for others to follow,” he said.
