Your Silence On Wike In Rivers Crisis Is Totally Divisive, PDP Governors Slam Tinubu, Demand Reversal Of Fubara's Suspension | Sahara Reporters

The statement, issued on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, followed Tinubu's nationwide broadcast announcing the suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The Peoples Democratic Party Governors' Forum (PDPGF) has condemned President Bola Tinubu's suspension of democratic rule in Rivers State, describing it as a grave threat to Nigeria's democracy.
The forum, in a statement released by its chairman, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State, expressed solidarity with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the people of the state, calling the suspension "unwarranted, premeditated, and divisive."
The statement, issued on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, followed Tinubu's nationwide broadcast announcing the suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The PDPGF accused the President of enabling the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to act as "a law unto himself" in the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, suggesting that the Minister's actions were part of a script orchestrated by the President.
“Mr. President, your silence on the active role played by your Minister of the FCT in the Rivers impasse is golden and enabling. He has become a law unto himself because he was playing out your script. Now we know. This is totally unstatesmanly, biased, and divisive,” the statement read.
The PDPGF warned that the suspension of democratic institutions in Rivers State poses a significant threat to Nigeria's democracy, national cohesion, and stability.
The forum described the move as a "dangerous course of action" that could exacerbate the nation's crises, deepen mistrust, elevate security threats, and harm the economy.
“This unwarranted but premeditated attack on Rivers State and the Peoples Democratic Party, as well as other opposition parties, is today the greatest threat to democracy in our dear country, Nigeria. It is an ill wind that will blow no one any good,” the statement added.
The PDPGF reiterated its philosophy of "Touch One, Touch All," vowing to stand united against any attempts to undermine democratic principles.
The forum called on President Tinubu to reverse the suspension and allow democratic processes to prevail in Rivers State.
