'Wow': GOP lawmaker recounts daughters' evacuation from fatal flood zone

Published 2 days ago2 minute read

A Republican lawmaker on Saturday said his daughters have safely returned home after being evacuated from a deadly flood zone in Texas, where about 30 people have lost their lives.

President Donald Trump's administration has faced some blame in the wake of the Texas flood that swept through a girls' camp and has led to an estimated 30 deaths. Marjorie Taylor Greene vowed to introduce a "weather modification" bill following the storm tragedy.

Congressman August Pfluger on Saturday made his own announcement.

"Camille, Vivian and I are now reunited with Caroline and Juliana who were evacuated from Camp Mystic. The last day has brought unimaginable grief to many families and we mourn with them as well as holding out hope for survivors," he wrote. "We want to thank the first responders who have come from far and wide to save lives."

The lawmaker then added, "The TX Division of Emergency Management has been incredible and the White House, DHS, FEMA, DPS and local officials have all been responsive and helpful."

"Please join us today as we pray for miracles," he concluded.

Wall Street Journal Congress reporter Olivia Beavers flagged the news, writing, "House member says two of his daughters were evacuated from Camp Mystic where 30+ have died and more are missing after flooding."

Another reporter, Daniella Diaz, Congress reporter at NOTUS, simply wrote, "Wow," on X on Saturday.
