A 37-year -old woman, Mrs Zainab Alhassan, has been reportedly robbed of N423, 000 cash by suspected ‘one chance’ robbers near Anagada village, along the Gwagwalada -Zuba road.
The victim, while narrating the incident to our reporter, said the incident happened on Tuesday, around 6:34 am after she boarded a vehicle from Gwagwalada on her way to Suleja.
She said she boarded a Golf car at the popular SDP junction in Gwagwalada, alongside three other passengers, two male adults and a female.
The woman said she was sitting at the front seat and that some few kilometres away after Giri junction, the driver stopped to check his car.
“As we were going, the driver now stopped by the roadside, pretending that his car had developed a fault and he went to open the car’s bonnet.
‘’I now decided to use the opportunity to urinate. When I returned and wanted to enter the car, the driver pushed me out and zoomed off with my bag, containing N423,000 and my android phone,” she explained.
Alhassan, who said she resides at Unguwar Kutunku in Gwagwalada metropolis, sells fairly-used clothes.
“I used to go to Suleja every Tuesdays to buy okirika (fairly-used clothes) in large quantities to sell,” she said.
It would be recalled that a similar incident happened last month when a trader from Abaji, who was also travelling to Suleja, was robbed of N700,000 by a suspected one chance syndicate near GSS Yangoji, along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.
The spokeswoman of the FCT police command, SP JosephineAdeh, could not be reached for comment as at the time of filing the report as her phone was not available when our correspondent called her line.
