Woman injured after dupatta gets tangled in cement mixer
Pune: A 28-year-old woman sustained serious injuries to her neck and head after her dupatta snagged in a cement mixer around 5.30pm on May 31. She works in a pipe company located at Wadki on Pune-Saswad Road.
The machine was churning its contents to make pipes. The injured woman, a resident of Wadki, lodged a complaint with the Phursungi police on Saturday.According to the police, the woman was working on the machine when her dupatta got stuck and dragged her into it. Her co-workers spotted her situation quickly and switched off the machine. She then got out of the mixer.Police have registered a case against the company owner for not training his workers to handle the machine and for not maintaining safety standards for their safety.
His negligence caused the accident, the police said.The workers were not given appropriate uniforms which led to the accident. Had the woman been given a secure uniform by the company, her dupatta would not have got stuck in the mixer, they added.The woman is a native of Uttar Pradesh and came to Pune along with her family in search of work. Her relatives work in other private companies as casual workers.
