Driver crashes car into Lake Michigan near Grant Park
A woman was recovering at the hospital on Saturday after her car plunged into icy Lake Michigan near Grant Park.
Police said a 26-year-old woman was headed south on DuSable Lake Shore Drive near Balbo Drive around 7:40 p.m., when she veered off the road and her blue sedan plunged into Lake Michigan.
The woman was able to make it out of the water, but her car remained partially submerged Saturday night. The surface of the lake was covered in ice due to the extended cold snap this week.
She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition.
Police said the woman would be given traffic citations.
