Will Pakistani Actress Mawra Hocane Star In Sanam Teri Kasam Sequel? Director Vinay Sapru Answers - Entertainment
Sanam Teri Kasam 2 is back in the news, and fans of the original are eager to know who will star in the much-awaited romantic sequel. While Harshvardhan Rane has been confirmed, speculation around the female lead has been swirling for months.
Earlier this year, Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, who starred in the first film, said she was approached for the role. However, with growing political tensions between India and Pakistan following the recent Pahalgam terror attack, the situation has changed. The unofficial ban on Pakistani artists remains in place, making her return unlikely.

In a recent interview with Hindi Rush, directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru were asked about the sequel’s cast. Though they didn’t spill too many details, Vinay clarified with a smile, “Mawra definitely nahi hai.” Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane made her Bollywood debut with the 2016 film Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Harshvardhan Rane. Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, it was reported that Mawra’s picture was digitally removed from the film’s album covers on music apps such as Spotify and YouTube Music.
Now, Harshvardhan Rane has reacted to this news. On Tuesday, Harshvardhan Rane took to his Instagram stories to share a post by an Instagram page Litmus. The headline of the post read, “Removed from the film that made her. Mawra Hocane erased by the nation she forgot to respect.” Re-sharing this post, Harshvardhan wrote, “…National weeding.”
This is what patriotism looks like!

In fact, a few days ago, Harshvardhan Rane shared a statement on Instagram, in which he revealed that he has refused to be a part of Sanam Teri Kasam sequel, if the producers go ahead with the same cast. “While I am grateful for the experience however as things stand, and after reading the direct comments made about my country, I have made a decision to respectfully decline to be a part of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ part 2 if there is any possibility of the previous cast being repeated,” he wrote.
