The Chicago Bears on Monday added another piece — signing veteran wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus to a one-year deal.
Zaccheaus spent last season with the Washington Commanders, and also played for the Atlanta Falcons from 2019 through 2022 and the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023.
The Bears noted that Zaccheaus has started 30 times in the 89 NFL games in which he has played.
He entered the league as an undrafted free agent in Atlanta in 2019, and has totaled 149 receptions for 1,998 yards, and 13 receiving touchdowns, the Bears said. Last season, Zaccheaus had a single-season career-high 45 receptions and racked up 506 receiving yards with the Commanders.
After admiring what Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson did with the Detroit Lions, Zaccheaus is excited to join the offense he is building for the Bears.
"Just from afar, obviously, you see what his offenses have done in the past — and you know, just the creativity, and the play calls, and how great the offenses have been, and how productive they've been," Zaccheaus said, "so I think that's what excites me."
Zaccheaus is a native of Plainfield, New Jersey, and played in college at the University of Virginia. He appeared in 50 games for the Virginia Cavaliers, and recorded 250 receptions for 2,753 yards and 22 touchdowns.
