is one of the most prolific shooting talents from range in all of basketball. So it’s no wonder that fans were waiting with bated breath to see her compete against the best of the best at the NBA’s upcoming All-Star Weekend. But that may not happen as Clark is all set to miss the 3-Point Challenge at the NBA’s marquee event.
Recent reports from Sports Business Journal had suggested that Clark was not inclined towards participating in a proposed 3-Point contest at the All-Star Weekend alongside the likes of , and . While these reports were mostly speculation, ESPN’s reported that Caitlin Clark’s representatives confirmed that she will not be participating in the event.
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark will not participate in NBA All-Star special 3-point shootout in San Francisco and “wants her first three-point contest to be at WNBA All-Star in Indianapolis this summer,” her representatives at Excel Sports said today.

According to Clark’s representation, the primary reason behind her decision to decline an invitation to the 3-Point Challenge was her inclination to cement herself within the WNBA All-Star game first. Last season, Clark had decided to skip out on the WNBA’s 3-Point Challenge, instead choosing to focus on the Indiana Fever’s playoff push.
However, Caitlin Clark is establishing her loyalty to women’s basketball with her latest message indicating that she plans to make her debut at the 3-Point shooting challenge when the WNBA’s All-Star game heads to Gainsbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis this summer. Although Clark may not be opposed to shooting alongside Stephen Curry and the NBA’s greats, she plans to show out in front of her home crowd first and foremost.
It has been well known that the NBA is striving to win back viewership for the sports, especially during its regular season and marquee All-Star break. The league has made a concerted effort to fix this issue by introducing a number of changes into the All-Star format to help gain back audience interest.
However, with Caitlin Clark’s decision to skip performing at this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend, one of the league’s biggest ambitions will be going to waste. With the surging popularity of Caitlin Clark as the face of American Basketball, the NBA sought to bring her to replicate last year’s success of the 3-point shootout between Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu.
As the two sharpshooting stars collided in 2024 at the All-Star Weekend, the face-off between them was among the most watched events of the weekend. However, Curry would gain the edge right at the end to take home the honors. This year, the addition of Clark to the event was supposed to make the entire 3-point Challenge an even bigger spectacle.
Alas, that is not to be, although we can still hold out some hope to see Caitlin Clark and the superstars of the NBA team up.
