The NFL offseason is in full swing as teams across the league have veterans, rookies and undrafted free agents competing for spots on their rosters.

It's a bit of a down time in the NFL calendar. There's not much significant action until late July with the first preseason matchup between the Los Angeles Chargers and Detroit Lions in the 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game.

May 14 marked the biggest league-wide event ahead of training camp with the release of the 2025 NFL schedule. Teams knew their opponents ahead of time but now they and their fans know the full order for every week.

We're still months away from the start of the regular season. There's much for each team to do before an NFC East rivalry kicks off the 2025 season.

But that doesn't mean we can't get excited about the start of another year of football. Here's when the season begins and everything to know about Week 1:

Week 1 of the NFL season starts with the season opener on Sept. 4. The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles will begin their title defense at home against NFC East rival Dallas.

The Eagles won both matchups against the Cowboys last year by a combined 75-13. Dallas last won against Philadelphia with a 33-13 victory in Week 14 of the 2023 season.
