What's new on BBC Sounds?

Summer has arrived and BBC Sounds is bursting with brilliant new content this June.

Scroll down for just a taster of what's coming up this month.

Radio 1's Big Weekend hit Liverpool's Sefton Park in May, kicking off the festival season with a bang.  Some of the biggest names and hottest new artists performed exclusively for Radio 1 and thousands of fans in an incredible weekend of live music.  Performances and tracks from across the weekend are available now on BBC Sounds featuring artists including headliners Tom Grennan, Sam Fender and Mumford and Sons.

It’s good, bad, ugly - and very very funny. Changing the way we see heroes and villains in history.  New episodes feature Napoleon, Wicked: Elphaba (The Wicked Witch of the West) and Robert Maxwell.

Shadow World: The Smuggler tells the story of a former British soldier who became an international people smuggler.

In this intimate portrait of a British people smuggler, we hear from the perpetrator directly, to uncover his motivations, methods and the consequences of risking the lives of desperate people. The investigation exposes how the smuggling techniques used are still possible today and details the ease with which smugglers can bring migrants into the UK without being caught.

How did the anti-vax movement become so mainstream? 25 years ago, a British doctor Dr Andrew Wakefield sparked a global vaccine panic. Today, Alexi Mostrous, the reporter behind chart-topping hit podcasts Sweet Bobby and Hoaxed investigates how anti-vaxxers have gone from the fringes of public life to the centre of the culture wars that divide America and so many other countries, and the beguiling fall and rise of the man who started it all.

How to Be in Love - Rylan is embarking on a mission to find love. He’s loved passionately, lost messily, and is now ready to find love once again.

But what is love truly about? And how can we find it – and make it last?  From a young age, we’re taught that love is the ultimate fairytale – that finding ‘the one’ will finally complete us. But is it time to look at love differently?

Over 12 episodes of this visualised podcast, Rylan’s guests will help him rediscover what love is – what we should be looking for in a partner (or partners!) and attempting to find the secrets of a healthy, long-term relationship.

From ghostly phantoms to UFOs, Danny Robins investigates real-life stories of paranormal encounters. So, are you Team Believer or Team Sceptic?

New episodes for June are:

Former soldier Andy heads to a tiny medieval town in central Spain to meet a group of friends for a fun biking holiday. But the old house in which they’re staying has a strange, uncomfortable atmosphere. And when Andy witnesses something indescribably nightmarish one night, the house’s dark secrets come tumbling out…

Danny Robins is joined by paranormal experts Ciaran O’Keeffe and Evelyn Hollow for a special episode, recorded live at the Hay Festival 2025, featuring brand new cases to chill your spine this summer. Are you Team Believer or Team Sceptic? How do we explain them?
