Weekly Film Music Roundup (July 4, 2025)
Opening in theaters nationwide this week is the sci-fi/action adventure directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise, Philippine Velge, David Iacono, Ed Skrein and Bechir Sylvain. The film’s original music is composed by (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech, Godzilla, The Queen). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past Wednesday. Opening in around 300 theaters this week is the Canadian post-apocalyptic thriller co-written and directed by R.T. Thorne and starring Danielle Deadwyler, Michael Greyeyes, Kataem O’Connor, Leenah Robinson, Elizabeth Saunders, Milcania Diaz-Rojas, Jaeda LeBlanc, Haile Amare and Tyrone Benskin. (Born to Be Blue, Backstabbing for Beginners, The Samaritan, Most Dangerous Game, Tricksters, Sweetness in the Belly) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. Opening in select theaters and on VOD this weekend is the erotic thriller directed by Justin Kelly and starring Alicia Silverstone, Karl Glusman, Tammy Blanchard and Catherine Curtin. The film’s original music is composed by Tim Kvasnosky (King Cobra, JT LeRoy, Welcome the Stranger, JT LeRoy). No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows pharmaceuticals executive who has an affair with a younger man, but their whirlwind romance turns dark as he starts stalking her at work and threatening her at home, is being released by Shout! Studios.
