We will do all to sustain peace in Rivers - Fubara

Published 7 hours ago1 minute read

The suspended governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara, has promised that he and all the parties involved will do all within their power to sustain peace.

Fubara made this promise on Thursday night while speaking to newsmen after President Bola Tinubu had hosted a reconciliation meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, bringing together all the figures in the Rivers State political crisis.

President Tinubu also brokered peace between the suspended Rivers State governor and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Fubara thereafter talked about sustaining peace in Rivers State, in an interview with President Tinubu’s official videographer, Sunday Moses.

“Peace has returned to Rivers State. We will do everything in our power to make sure we sustain it this time around,” Fubara said.

“It is important that this day has come. What we need in Rivers is peace. We shall do everything in our power to sustain peace in Rivers State.”

The lawmakers who attended the meeting in Abuja on Thursday alongside Fubara and Wike were led by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule.
