We negotiated about 300% salary increase for oil, gas workers in three years - PENGASSAN
Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASAN) says its ability to negotiate nearly 300% salary increase in three years through collective bargaining agreements strongly demonstrates its positive response to inflation.
President of PENGASAN, Festus Osifo, made the declaration while addressing PENGASAN Annual Women Convention in Abuja, on Monday.
Osifo, who lauded the association’s constant push for better welfare for Nigerian workers, says it is no small achievement that the body managed to negotiate across the board to get employers to increase workers’ salaries, with tremendous response coming from the oil companies.
He said: “Since 2023, we have some companies in PENGASA that have done close to 300 per cent salary increment.
“And I will tell you, since this inflation came, since this inflation started, we’ve been doing Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations across the board. And there has been a tremendous response.
He described the success story and response from the oil and gas sector regarding salary increments as second to none, adding that the association will continue to fight and defend the cause of Nigerian workers.
“And if you know where the pay of oil and gas industry workers is, and we’re talking about 300 per cent, you know what we are saying. There are some branches, quite a lot of branches have done over 200 per cent. And just last night, we got another branch at all, and we resolved issues around their CBA,” he said
