An old clip of the late actor Irrfan Khan has resurfaced on social media, amid the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack. The video, capturing a brief exchange between Irrfan and a Pakistani journalist during a press conference, has regained attention due to its timely relevance.

In the throwback footage, a Pakistani journalist praises Irrfan’s work and extends an invitation. “Hello, Irrfan bhai. You have a large following in Pakistan. I hope you can visit Pakistan someday. It will be a great pleasure,” the journalist said. Irrfan responded with a straight face, “Main aah toh jaaunga, wapas aaunga ki nahi?” The unexpected reply drew laughter from the audience and has since been viewed as a satirical commentary on the current geopolitical climate.

The video has spread widely across social media, with users praising Irrfan’s sharp yet subtle humor. One X user who shared the clip wrote, “Today we have S-400, AkashTeer, but back then, we had Irrfan Khan to destroy Pakistan.” In response, one commenter stated, “He truly was a gem and a patriot,” while another remarked, “Nobody trolled the Pakistanis better than Irrfan Khan. The man forever lives in our memories.”

Irrfan’s resurfaced video has gained traction at a time when India has restricted social media accounts of several Pakistani artists and removed their content from streaming platforms in the country. Last week, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued a directive instructing streaming services in India to remove films, TV shows, web series, podcasts, and songs produced in Pakistan. Images of Pakistani actors, including Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, and Mawra Hocane, were also removed from Bollywood song covers on music apps.

Irrfan Khan, a beloved figure in Indian cinema, passed away on 29 April 2020 at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital after a prolonged battle with cancer.
