VIDEO: Possible tornado touches down near Columbia

COLUMBIA, Miss. (WHLT) – A possible tornado touched down near Columbia, Mississippi, on Wednesday, February 12.

Columbia Mayor Justin McKenzie shared a video of the storm moving near the city Wednesday afternoon.

Boil water notice issued for Wayne County customers

According to the Marion County EMA, 11 homes in the Lake View area were damaged. The storm toppled trees and power lines.

The storm also damaged two to three businesses, including the Beacon Supply Hardware on US 98 in Columbia. According to the Pearl River Valley EPA, 119 customers are without power as of Wednesday evening. Crews are working to restore power.

Storm damage was also reported in Wayne County. The Wayne County School District will be closed on Thursday, February 13.
