ST. PAUL, Alaska (KTUU) - Two American F-16 fighter jets were forced to make an emergency landing in the remote community of St. Paul, located in the Bering Sea.

Eielson Air Force Base officials confirmed Tuesday that the jets came from Kunsan K-8 Air Base on the west coast of South Korea.

St. Paul City Manager Phillip Zavadil says the jets made an emergency landing on the island in recent days, and they are still there as of Tuesday afternoon.

Barbara Lestenkof captured video of the jets, saying most of the town of 400 came out to see them on the runway.

It is not known what caused the emergency landing or how long the F-16s will stay.
